Comment: On the 30th June 2010 we had a wonderful trip on the Misty Isle. The weather was wonderful and the information given regarding Skye was most informative. We saw seals and lots of different species of birds. We had a super walk when we disembarked and sat by the loch and had our lunch. BUT the truly memorable part of the trip was on the return journey. We were accompanied for some of the way by a pod of dolphins. It was just so exciting, at 65 I felt 10. It was so wonderful to be so close to them and see then diving in and out of the water. We even saw a mother with her baby by her side. Thank you for a superb day, one that we shall always treasure.

Comment: Just wanted to say thanks to all involved in making our trip on the Misty Isle Boat very special indeed. On 12th April 2010 this year, which was unusually warm and sunny, Seumas dropped us off at the jetty, my ex-husband, our 2 boys and myself walked over to Loch Coruisk wanting to drink in the amazing landscape that surrounded us. Not only did we appreciate the stunning and beautiful surroundings, but my ex-husband proposed to me again so after being together for around 17 years, but with the last 5 of them being divorced it was indeed a memorable and unforgettable experience. The hot chocolate on the Misty Isle on the return journey was the perfect way to toast and celebrate our good news! The Misty Isle Boat Trip and Loch Coruisk shall forever in our hearts remain a very special place!

Comment: Just wanted to say a big thank-you to you all for a fantastic trip on the Misty Isle! We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and meeting the boys and grandchildren! Will be back up again with Lawrence when he returns to Scotland - hopefully July/August. Hope the birthday celebrations went well? Thanks again for everything.

Comment: What a pity we waited all those years before taking a trip on the Misty Isle! We had been promising ourselves that we would do it "one day". It has taken over thirty years for that day to come around. We know that when God made time, he made plenty of it; but we think we took this too literally. Thank you for a fantastic day. The atmosphere on Misty Isle was friendly, welcoming and relaxing - a lovely "family" feeling, and special thanks to the tiny distributor of biscuits! It was not just the fantastic scenery that made our day. It was the wonderful family Mackinnon. Thank you.

Comment: We had an amazing time yesterday - We are back in London now and miss Skye so much already. The trip was amazing - although we are still not dry! - Thanks for putting up the photos/videos of a clear day's view so we can compare with our experience.
Even in the mist the scenery was incredible, we have some really nice photos.

Comment: We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported the fundraising Misty Isle Boat Trips, Loch Coruisk BBQ held on Friday 7th August. Extra special thanks must go to Skipper Shay, Anne (organiser-in-chief) and crewman Stuart. Everyone’s appreciation for the fantastic musical entertainment goes to Roxy, Sandy, Scott and a visiting honeymooner camping at Coruisk (we managed to marry him up with a guitar for the evening!). Eric, Ann and Donald Bethune earn a huge thank you for the delicious and expertly managed BBQ feast. Special thanks must also go to everyone who contributed towards the great variety of raffle prizes or contributed donations as they were unable to take part.
The magnificent sum of £1,170.00 was raised for the Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers, this combined with the wonderful company and support of everyone on the evening made this a night to remember.

Comment: It was a delight to meet you all on Wednesday. Many thanks for your hospitality, the trip and the craic. The American lady I was accompanying has said some really nice things about you - and it’s always good to receive positive feedback! "our trip was special, so very glad you chose the Misty Isle. I am leaving with great memories of special places and people."

Comment: This was our second trip on the Misty Isle. What a fabulous day out. We were well looked after and even our 2 dogs got a biscuit!! We were happily drenched having sat in the wrong part of the boat coming back, even though we were offered a rain mac several times, we preferred the rugged trip. The kids enjoyed watching us getting soaked! Thanks for a fantastic day trip and for stopping to check out the seals, basking shark and the gannets.

Comment: Thank you for such a lovely, gentle sail to the loch. Your kindness to all of us (including Tweed our nervous collie!) was much appreciated and I don't know how you make that hot chocolate but it was the best thing after our tramp around the loch. We'll certainly make this trip again on our next trip to Skye.
With best wishes

Comment: Thank you for a super trip to Loch Coruisk on a perfect day in June. Here is a photo of Misty Isle taken on our return [See photo gallery page for Vic and Diana's lovely photo]. I've just sent you a webpage of JMW Turner's painting of Loch Coruisk, done in 1831. Hope you can open it OK.
We hope to return one day. Meanwhile, all good wishes

Comment: I'm sure you have millions of photos, but have some more anyway [See the photo gallery for Sally's lovely photo]! I loved the trip to Loch Coruisk and can still scarcely believe we were escorted there by porpoises. Thanks, too, for organising a lift for us back up that fearsome hill from Elgol jetty on a very hot day!
Best wishes for a good summer

Comment: We would like to say a very big thank you to Seumus and Donald for the marvellous trip we had out with you last Thursday afternoon. It was pure magic. The views are some that I will never forget. The commentary was very interesting and we enjoyed our short walk to Loch Coruisk.
The cup of tea very welcome but the highlight of the afternoon and the holiday was the dolphins. Thank you so much for seeking them out for us. It was one of the best experiences of wildlife I have ever had.
We will certainly recommend you to friends going to your beautiful island.
Please thank the very kind lady at the ticket office. We did go to Neist Point the next day, unfortunately we didn't see any whales but it just means we will have to come back again. Apparently there were sightings the previous day.
with very best wishes.

Comment: My friend and I had a wonderful trip on the Misty Isle last Tuesday. It more than lived up to expectation. Not only did we enjoy a beautiful day, we also saw dolphins and seals from the boat and had a lovely walk by Loch Coruisk - and just possibly spotted an eagle. Only thing missing was a dark and brooding atmosphere - but we won't complain about that!
Seamus and Stuart and Heather were excellent company. We would especially like to thank Glenda, for giving us a lift back up the hill, and Ann for arranging it. In the heat of that day walking up would have left us pretty shattered. So thank you very much for the kindness and consideration.
The whole team at Misty Isle is highly professional but also warm and welcoming.
With best wishes for a good season

Comment: My wife Sarah and I took our first trip across to Elgol and decided on the Misty Isle as we had read the reviews on this website before our arrival.
I can honestly say it is the best day trip we have had in the years we have been coming to Skye. Seumas and our stand in guide Donald were extremely welcoming, friendly, informative and could not do more to make our journey to Loch Coruisk a more enjoyable experience.
From the comfort of the boat we were given an overview of the local scenery and the history of the surrounding area…before we were met by dozens of seals and given a close (but not too close to disturb them) view of the colonies that had made this place their home. We were dropped off at Loch Coruisk itself and the boat waited for us for 1 and a half hours while we were directed to the best spots for views and breathtaking scenery before making our way back to the boat for the return journey to Elgol. Over a cold drink (the weather was warm!) Seumas spent the time searching for more local wildlife on the way back, and true to his word we were met by a large pod of dolphins! They were swimming beside our boat, leaping from the water and generally delighting everyone onboard the Misty Isle. We could not believe our luck. Having spent around 20 minutes with them we made our bearing back to the pier at Elgol a very contented crew.
We had friends over in Plockton who wanted to do the trip after we described it to them and we agreed to take them to Elgol on the following Sunday…we were happy to do the trip again as the weather was so good but were disappointed to see the Misty Isle did not operate on a Sunday. We took [
another boat operator] across this time to Loch Coruisk and although the views were equally stunning, the trip did not live up to our expectations from our Misty Isle experience. I would sum up our experience on the [other boat] as “twice the price for half the effort”…. A less welcoming, less informative trip across to Loch Coruisk, where the boat left us and returned for a race back across to Elgol without any attempts it seemed to find the local dolphin population our friends had been told so much about from our trip on the Friday.
We can strongly recommend the Misty Isle as a 5 star experience and the highlight of our holiday in Skye….thanks to all her crew, our guide Donald and our Skipper Seumas! Can’t wait to come back!

Comment: Just a short note to say how much I enjoyed my recent voyage. One of the crew even carried my 5 stone lab up the steps at Loch Coruisk. The best day out on Skye bar none.
Highly recommended, will certainly repeat the trip as soon as possible. P.S. (pick a good day!)

Comment: Good afternoon
I spent a few days on Skye last week with my parents( any student jumps at the chance of a free holiday) and we were blown away buy it, it was my first visit with my only other island exploration being on Arran and Bute. We sailed abourd the Misty isle on the 11am trip on the 15th April and we were spoilled with the weather! I had visions of grey mist and horizontal rain before heading to skye but thankfully clear blue skies were the order of the week. I discovered the trip from a recomendation from a member on a camera forum i use, who suggested i take the trip and i am glad i did. Both myself and my parents thourghly enjoyed our trip and it posses excellent value. Ive attatched a few pictures of our day feel free to use them
[see the photo gallery for Steve's photos]
Thanks to all who helped make the trip memorable!

Comment: Thanks heaps for the FABULOUS boat trip we were lucky enough to have with you in September 2008. We spent 10 weeks overseas travelling through Russia, Scandinavia, Europe, and the UK, and the Misty Isle Boat Trip is high on the list of one of our most memorable times. The hot chocolate and shortbread was delicious, and the good humour and lovely smile of Stuart helped make the whole trip thoroughly enjoyable. Best wishes to you all for the future – we will most definitely recommend you to our friends (as long as you don’t throw the Aussies to the sharks!).

Comment: 25th of July 2008 we cruised Loch Scavaig on your beautiful boat "Misty Isle". We enjoyed it very much. It was a great day, beautiful weather and your nice stories about the Isles we've seen during our journey on the boat and your nice village of Elgol made it very special. We walked around Loch Coruisk which was a beautiful walk. On the way back we were one of the lucky ones to see a Basking Shark, that makes the trip more complete. I'll send you the picture of the shark, as I promised [see the photo gallery!]. Thank you very much for your kindness en information of your region. When we come back to Skye we sure will pay a visit to the Misty Isle, hope you have a great season!
Greetings From Holland!

Comment: We would like to thank Seumas, Anne and Stuart for a wonderful afternoon on the Misty Isle. Stuart's informative commentary was very interesting and the large gathering of dolphins around the boat was so perfectly timed anyone would have thought they had been booked for the occasion! We loved the walk to the Loch and the views. Our Golden Retriever, Bonnie, would like me to thank everyone for the gravy bones and I am really grateful to Seumas and Stuart for looking after her while we went exploring, as she was too elderly to manage the steps at the Loch. What service! We hope to see you all again one day.

Comment: I was one of a group you took over to Loch Coruisk last Saturday. I just wanted to thank you all for your kindness and professionalism. Comment: Dear Seumas and Anne,
I can't believe its already 2 weeks since I came up to see the Maid / Misty. I really can't thank you enough for making me (and Pete) so welcome. It was so fantastic to see her [Misty Isle boat] being so well looked after and part of such a great family! I hope you have done some trips and that you are getting busier - we are here in Swanage so I guess people are starting to venture out. I have attached the photos I showed you - I hope they have come out OK. [Photos of Misty Isle when she was the "Maid of Sandbanks" can be seen on the Photo Gallery page]

Comment: Just wanted to say what a wonderful trip we had on Tuesday 20th May with you. The weather couldn't have been better, such fantastic views all around us. The whole afternoon was a great experience, so much wildlife to see, the highlight for us was being able to see 2 basking sharks so very close to us, and then porpoises and of course all the seals and great birds.
Thank you so much for the knowledge you passed on to us, and great hospitality, Calum is such a sweetheart, really hope we can come back again to Elgol and have another trip with you. would love you to get your web cam up and running so we can keep looking at how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful place, and see what is going on. All the best to you all.

Comment: I was just sat here on a very wet Saturday afternoon dreaming of our week on Skye a few weeks ago when we had such a great week for weather. I thought I'd just have a look at one or two of the Skye web cams, just to see if the weather was as bad up there as it is in York. If it's bad on Skye it somehow feels not as bad to be here in rain or at work or whatever.
Anyway, I have now spent a while looking at all the various links and was delighted to see more of you and your family. We are a Christian family form York, going to St Pauls church. I did chat to you a few weeks ago on a beautiful Friday, about the house at Camasunary, and about what life was like growing up in Elgol, I don't suppose you'll remember...
It was great meeting you. I too also feel that Elgol and Loch Coruisk are among the most spectacular and beautiful places that I've been. I look forward to reading your blogs, esp Skyegospel ones. Particularly enjoyed the one of Dr Harry Ironside.

Comment: What a fantastic boat trip with fantastic people. We took the trip to Loch Coruisk on Saturday 10th May 2008 and were fortunate to be the only ones on the sailing, my husband and I along with 4 of our friends. Although the weather was a bit overcast the welcome we received from Seamus, Stuart and wee Calum was very warm. We spent a wonderful hour and a half wandering around this most beautiful part of our country taking in the breathtaking scenery. The cuppa on the return trip was most welcome and our waiter - Calum - fulfilled his duties admirably. All in all a fantastic day, we will definitely be recommending the Misty Isle boat trip to any future visitors to Skye.

Comment: We are two Polish tourists who visited Elgol in April and had a great time going on the cruise to Loch Coruisk, watching the seals, birds and an amazing landscape of the Cuillins. We appreciated your service and company on the Misty Isle boat trip very much:)) We have great memories even though we got wet during our excursion. But it makes our memories even more memorable!

Comment: A big thank-you to Seumas, Anne & Stuart for making our Loch Coruisk fishing trip such a pleasurable experience. We couldn’t have asked for more, and the fantastic weather we had just made the trip even more enjoyable.
Loch Coruisk is a magical place and is a perfect example of the unspoiled beauty the West Coast islands has to offer. We shall certainly be back!

Comment: Thank you for a truly lovely trip with you on Friday 2nd May, out to Loch Coruisk for the start of our walk back to Elgol. Having visited Elgol many times, I still believe it to be one of the most deeply charismatic and inspirational places of the world - just a jewel of tranquility and beauty.
Your warmth, humour and obvious care for passengers just shone through - we look forward to our next trip with you! We did manage the Bad Step (eek!) without an impromptu dip, following a close up first on the boat and fortified by your wonderfully hot coffee and a Twix Bar! God Bless!

Comment: Just to say a huge big thank you for the most wonderful afternoon with you last week! We were mesmerised by the scenery and tranquility- the perfect escape from the busy hustle bustle of day to day life!! In addition to this the hospitality shown was second to none- a welcome coffee and hot chocolate upon returning to the boat- just what the doctor ordered!!
When we were returning from our holiday we were discussing the highlights and both of us said that our trip with you was number one!!
Thank you once again.

Comment: We had a great time on Misty Isle on a beautiful spring day in late March in the week after the Easter Weekend. The sea was calm, the sky was blue and the mountains were covered in snow. There can have been no better way to see Loch Coruisk and the Cuillin.
The scenery is spectacular and seeing it from your boat gives a totally different perspective to the view from land. Thank you for a great day.
With Best Wishes for the 2008 season.

Comment: We would like to thank Seumas and Jamie for the warm and friendly welcome we received on board the Misty Isle last Thursday, 18 October 2007.
The Cuillins were shrouded in mist, the views of the hills and islands were amazing, and Jamie's commentary about the local area, village & off-shore islands was very enjoyable & informative. When we landed we had 90 mins to walk to the Loch, explore and take photos. The Loch itself was beautiful, peaceful and quiet, it was lovely. On returning to the boat, Seumas & Jamie were waiting with hot drinks and biscuits.
It was a very enjoyable day, this is a 'must do' if you are going to Skye. A beautiful trip to Elgol from Broadford, then a boat trip on Misty Isle to the lovely Loch Coruisk. Perfect.
Thank you again.

Comment: To all at Misty Isle Boat Trips, We came to Skye with our black Lab Dylan at the end of April and had a really wonderful day on the Misty Isle in the Cuillins, it was the highlight of our holiday. Here's some photos we took that day - we have been meaning to send you those for a while! We took loads of photos and a video, but we are sending you our favourites. We saw Seamus and the boat last night on the TV on "Britain's Favourite View", and it brought back lots of happy memories, needless to say we then voted for Loch Coruisk! We hope that your season has been busy and the summer rainfall hasn't stopped anyone from sailing with you. We will be back to see you in the future.

Comment: What a fantastic trip with a wonderful crew. Don’t miss the opportunity when in Skye and specifically Elgol to experience true hospitality on wonderful journey to the secluded Loch Coruisk. Shags, seals and dolphins surrounded by scenery to die for – what more can you ask!
Many thanks to Stuart and Seamus for the memories of an extraordinary day.

Comment: My wife, daughter, son and I travelled with you on Saturday 11th August. It was a beautiful day, we loved the glimpse of the dolphin and seeing the seals and of course Loch Coruisk itself. What made the trip even more special was the friendliness and the 'sense of care' of you and your father and also of seeing the three generations of your family together. I've attached a photo of my two weans on the Misty Isle on the outward journey. Many thanks for a great day.

Comment: Thank you for being such smiley people - all 3 generations of you! You made a special day even more special by your warmth and OK your hot chocolate and shortbread helped too!
We were the party of 6 women from fife who travelled with you on sat 11th August. The sailing was on a perfect day and the view over the isles and to the Cuillins was beautiful and emotional. We walked over the stepping stones and all the way round Loch Coruisk in the rain which took us 3 hours. The sight of Stuart and Seamus waiting for us an hour early was fabby!
Thank you

Comment: Just a note to say thank you for a great trip. It was really lovely to have 3 generations of your family welcome us and look after us. You spoke with genuine passion about the area, and the wild life. We have beautiful photographs of the seals, and common shags. This type of boat trip, which slowly meanders its way through beautiful scenery beats the fast rigid inflatables any day! Your pointers for the challenging walk back were very helpful, the "bad step" really was very bad in wet conditions, but we made it back safely, exhilarated, if not a little wet, and totally exhausted. Many thanks again it was one of the highlights of our stay on Skye.

Comment: I would just like to say thank you for your lovely trip to Loch Coruisk at the beginning of July. it was the first time on your boat, even though we have travelled to the loch many times before. It is a magical place for my family and holds many dear memories. We will never tire of the place and the spell it casts on every one who visits.
We look forward to returning next year. Thank you Seamus and Jamie. I have attached a few photos that we took this year.

Comment: We sailed with you on Tues 19th June with a couple of friends and a couple of black labradors, walking around the loch all day and coming back on the last boat. Comment: I have been on the Cuillin many times over the years, as both a walker and climber. Historically I walked in via Camasunary, but last weekend I took my wife and children over on the Misty Isle. What a fantastic trip!! It started with a nice gaelic greeting, followed by a very informative commentary as we went across. The kids loved it, especially the slow sail past the seal colony. We spend over an hour walking around the shores under the spectacular slopes of the Cuillin. A great day out - many thanks. Would I recommend it - YES, I should have done it years ago, and it's now my favoured way in to the hill - with the option of a great walk out.

Comment: Thanks very much for a fantastic trip. It was great to be able to take our dog Bumble who loved it - and the complimentary gravy bones also went down well.
A truly excellent experience, Thanks again, Joe, Jen and Bumble

Comment: Our group of 9 had a great trip to Coruisk and everyone enjoyed the informative and fun commentary. It's also nice to see how much you care for the wildlife and don't want to disturb it. Just a pity the Bella Jane had to behave in such a silly way by preventing you from landing at Elgol at your appointed time. Will be back soon. (International Otter Survival Fund)

Comment: A wonderful trip and great value for money. We saw lots of wildlife including seals and basking sharks. We would recommend it to anyone visiting Elgol on Skye.
